The arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s second baby mid-day Saturday London time, in the very early hours of the day in LA, quickly became the top trending topic on Twitter.

But Twitter activity around the baby girl fell behind that surrounding the couple’s first baby two years ago, according to first data shared by the social media company.

“The world has flocked to Twitter for news of the #RoyalBaby, which is now the #1 global trend on Twitter,” the social media platform said in a statement at 12:35 p.m. London time (4:35 a.m. LA time).

The peak in #RoyalBaby Twitter conversationhappened at 11:25 a.m. amid news of the birth at more than 4,500 tweets per minute, according to Twitter.
